Chris has worked in the resort industry for twenty-five years. After completing a degree in Business Administration and Tourism and Resort Management, he worked in operations management and consulting in several locations before returning to his favorite town in the world, Durango, Colorado. With a background in four-star resort management and homeowner relations, Chris has a wealth of knowledge about the resort real estate market and the income derived from the rental of investment property.
Chris' history with Durango dates back to 1988 when he started his career at Tamarron Resort while working part-time at Purgatory (now Durango Mountain Resort) as a ski instructor. Through the years he has seen the community go through a dynamic pace of growth and change.
"Durango offers the best possible combination of factors for resort development. It is situated in arguably the most beautiful setting in all of the United States, and offers 'out the back door' access to world-class fishing, four-wheeling, hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking and a host of other pursuits. In addition, the ski resort is the antithesis of behemoth ski resort development where building and exploitation are often synonymous. Durango Mountain Resort had the vision to take an already existing resort that never reached its full aesthetic potential and reshape it into a place where the environment and the development explore synergies in a community that feels like home."
Chris is well positioned to apply his expertise throughout the Colorado mountain region and has developed strategic alliances throughout the state. Chris is currently the managing broker of Durango Mountain Realty and a member of the real estate development team. He was formerly The Director of Sales for the new base area development at Durango Mountain Resort, Purgatory Lodge.
When he's not in the office, Chris and his two boys can be found with one eye on their fishing lines and the other appreciating the splendor of the Colorado mountain West. He is an avid runner, cyclist, skier, snowboarder and hiker. Chris also has professional writing credentials and has been published in Inside Outside Magazine, Ski Magazine, and other regional publications. Chris is a board member and the financial officer on the executive committee of SASO. Chris also serves on the boards of the Durango Area Association of Realtors and the Durango Mountain Master Association.
"I have had the good fortune of working with Chris Bettin on two different property transactions in the past five years. Chris is a rare combination of integrity, diligence, and thoroughness, all wrapped in an easy going and reassuring manner. Our family has sought the perfect mountain home all over the Western U.S. and Canada, and Chris has been instrumental in helping us to realize this dream. I wish all our business transactions were as seamless and professional as our dealings with Chris. We consider him both a valued business partner and now a close friend."

"Wayne and I decided on the spur of the moment while on a ski trip at Purgatory in 2005 to look at mountain property. That?s how we met Chris Bettin. We walked into the real estate office (in our ski boots) and set up an appointment for the next day to look at properties. After vacationing and skiing in Durango for many years we felt that the time was right to have a place of our own here.We were amazed at how organized he was on such short notice and that after only talking to us for a few minutes he was able to zero in on the type of properties that matched our needs exactly. He had thoroughly thought through the variety and range of properties he wanted to show us and explained to us the pros and cons for each one that we visited. After spending a few hours with him we felt we had a full understanding what was offered on the mountain and in the area.Chris kept in contact with us and when we returned in the summer he helped us choose the vacation home of our dreams.Chris was not only a great real estate agent but became a great friend as well.We were finally able to move to Durango fulltime a couple of years ago.Now it?s time to think about a more permanent home here in the Durango area and we wouldn?t rely on anyone else but Chris Bettin to help us further our dream. If you are thinking about purchasing a vacation home or a permanent residence here in Durango, give Chris a call.He really knows the area and has great insight in matching your dreams with the real thing. Thanks for everything Chris!"

"I met Chris over 4 years ago when I walked into his office to inquire about property in the resort area of Durango Mountain Resort. At that time I didn't know exactly what kind of opportunity I was looking for (condo, townhouse, vacant land, etc) and was fairly unfamiliar with the area from a real estate standpoint.
From day one Chris was professional, knowledgeable, unpretentious, and ALWAYS available. He spent countless hours with my wife and I helping us pick the perfect property. In the end we purchased a vacant lot and just recently finished building our custom home. Chris was a priceless asset through the entire building process even though he had no vested interest after the sale. Unlike many agents Chris will retain the relationship long after the sale and he treats all clients as though they are his best.
I can't recommend Chris enough for any of your real estate needs. He understands his clients and his territory and will deliver for you above and beyond your expectations! I have called Chris for countless questions over the years, some real estate related, many not, and he has returned every call within 24 hours and always gives me guidance. I find no reason whatsoever to inquire with other agents as long as Chris is in business!
If you have any questions or would like to speak in person don't hesitate to call me directly. Chris has my number!"
