We’re all about fun at Purgatory Mountain!

Hey Kids – whether it’s whooshing down the mountain or making snowmen and snow angels, this is your time away from school, homework and chores. We want to make it as much fun as we possibly can. This vacation is all about you!

Did you know that we were just selected by Ski Magazine as one of the 7 Great Mountains to Ski. Ski Magazine was looking for the best mountains for families and we topped the list! You can check out the article in the  magazine but here’s a glimpse of what they had to say about our slice of heaven. “If ever a mountain was created for families, it’s Purgatory. Nature formed it perfectly, with rolling steps that make the skiing roller-coaster fun, but never intimidating.”

We’ve got special ski and snowboard instructors just for your age and one of them, Jessica Copp, was even selected by Ski Magazine as one of the best children’s ski instructors in the country! We also have an Old West fun park on the mountain for you to play in and the Pitchfork Terrain Garden, a beginner’s terrain park.

Meet the Snow Monsters.  Purgatory is the home mountain to the Snow Monsters, the official mascots of the US Ski and Snowboard Team.  Check them out here.

Lids on Kids

With the increasing popularity of helmets during the past few years many parents are considering a helmet for their child. The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), together with the help of many others in the ski industry, educates parents about putting helmets on their children while they’re on the slopes. Durango Mountain Resort recommends that parents, skiers and snowboarders make the right choice about wearing a helmet. It’s up to you to educate yourself about their benefits and limitations. Ultimately, the choice of whether to wear a helmet is one of personal or parental choice.
